Chandragiri is one of the most popular day-trip destinations near Kathmandu, offering a refreshing escape from the city and impressive views of the surrounding mountains. Located at around 2,551 metres, the hill provides a beautiful vantage point over Kathmandu Valley and, on clear days, the Himalayan range.

Itinerary
Day 1 Chandragiri Hiking
Your guide will meet you at your hotel in the morning before driving to Mata Tirtha by private vehicle. The journey takes around 45 minutes, depending on traffic. From Mata Tirtha, begin the hike through peaceful forest trails towards Chandragiri Hill. The walk takes approximately three hours and offers occasional views across Kathmandu Valley along the way.
Once you reach the hilltop, enjoy the fresh mountain air and, weather permitting, impressive views of the Himalayan ranges and peaks, including Manaslu, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Gaurishankar and Everest. You can also visit Bhaleshwar Mahadev Temple before taking some time to enjoy the surroundings.
In the afternoon, descend by Chandragiri Cable Car, enjoying views of the forest and Kathmandu Valley during the ride. The entire experience takes around seven hours, including transportation, hiking and the cable car journey.
